Good Taste in Perfume

"A lasting perfume isn't all that's to be desired. It is a suggestion of a dainty odor that good taste should follow."

(From an 1896 ad for J.G.Mouson & Company perfumes Bouquet Carmen Sylva and Violette Imperiale.)

Well, right they are! I couldn't helps smiling about this add which is so typical end 19th century, so educative! Back then marketing seems to have been quite modest compared to nowadays.
Greetings to you and Mr. C.

Andy,
Yes, it is so old-fashioned and so very touching :-)

I think this somewhat still rings true today. How many times do we do a double take on people whose perfume precedes them? The perfume should be an enhancing accessory and not overpowering presence.

Great blog! It's an enjoyable read...

SV Chick,
Thank you! I agree. Subtlety is often a very good thing.
