On a To-Try List: Jovan Mink + Pearls

Mink and pearls, very me. And the notes sound fantastic: aldehydes, hyacinth, galbanum, clary sage, bergamot, jasmine, narcissus, jonquil, rose, carnation, tuberose, patchouli, castoreum, amber, tonka, moss, leather, musk.

If you have tried this scent, please share your impressions!

The info is from H&R Fragrance Guide: Feminine Notes, 1984. The image is from parfum-minis.de.

Happy Sunday to you! Although I never tried this I remember it when it was out, and I wouldn't have high hopes. I think it was rather low-rent. But I am such a snob--ya never know!!

J,
Thanks to the kindness of someone, I got to try Frankincense + Myrrh; it was fantastic! So I have rather high hopes for this one too now :-)

Well, I mean...almost every perfume line has at least one good scent in them :-) Frankincense might be Jovan's :-) And Mink might turn out to be...not so good :-)

No, it might be good too (hoping for you). I just remember them giving out "pearls" with bottles. I see, though, that FandM is particularly rare (and apparently, pricey). And now I want it, too:) Sigh.

J,
My impression of that one was of a very-very-very dry Guet-Apens, weird I know. But it was lovely.

I used Mink and Pearls in the 1970s and loved it! If this is out again, tell me where to find it! I have never found anything to match it since they stopped distribution. It just smelled "smooth".

1st time commenting, but couldn't pass it up. Low-rent!!!! Perhaps it's just the memories associated with wearing it, but I agree with "lauried", I would kill to have this again!!

In a mood to waste some time today, I did a search for "mink & pearls", which I do from time to time; there are discontinued books and perfumes and collectibles of all sorts that pop up sometimes!

Lo and behold, I found this odd perfumery - not yer mama's perfume store - and I'm going to have some M&P for the first time in over 20 years!

I love Mink & Pearls. I have an official Jovan sample set from about 1978 which has about 10 Jovan fragrances of the time. Mink & Pearls is definitely a standout. It's a gorgeous, well-blended floral chypre. Very lovely stuff if you enjoy the complexity of chypres. I just wrote a review of it on Basenotes.
